What you'll be doing?

Within the Construction environment, think about buying materials, managing big projects, ensuring health and safety and customer service. At any given time, you’ll find us working on some circa 400 developments in both towns and rural areas across the UK, and every one poses unique challenges. Some are from scratch on brownfield sites; others see us adapting existing buildings, like old factories or disused hospitals.

We need people who can bring us fresh ideas and imagination on one hand, and the commercial ability to manage people, budgets and costs on the other. It is testament to the professionalism of our construction teams that for an unprecedented thirteenth year, Site Managers have won more NHBCPride in the Job Awards than any other housebuilder.

Reporting to the Site Management Team you will assist in building quality homes for the future.

You will be expected to:

  • To carry out all works on site as instructed by the Site Manager and in line with BDW standards and procedures referring to the good practice guide and NHBC Guidance
  • Take personal responsibility for Health and Safety on site, use walkways and ensure that all equipment is kept clean and tidy.
    • Build Foundations as per details and to good practice guide standard. Using correct silo mix. (Divisional)
    • Build superstructure ensuring cavities are kept clean and wall ties cleaned down to prevent any RI’s from NHBC inspections and all fire stopping is completed to acceptable standards.  Using correct mortar mix
    • Do not alter scaffolds and ensure that working area is kept clear at all times to prevent falls
    • Maintaining clean working area and material free access to scaffold and escape routes
    • Ensure working area cleared at all times
    • Ensure proper PPE and Safety eye wear is used when cutting stones blocks and brick
    • Before completing every lift, ensure that the Site Manager or Assistant Site Manager has inspected the lift to ensure that it complies with the current requirements
    • Complete projects in line with the sites build programme
  • Waste Management
    • Ensure materials are segregated and disposed of in correct skips
    • Ensure any reusable materials are removed from skips and stacked for reuse
    • Any waste material should be removed from the scaffolding using the facilities provided.
  • Working with forklift
  • Ensure that gates are closed after forklift supplies blocks and mortar to the loading bay
  • Ensure that empty pallets and rubble are removed from the loading bay area to ensure it is clear
  • Ensure fork lift operator is aware of the above information.

To be successful in the role, we are looking for:

  • Reliable and hard working
  • SVQ Level 3 Certification with appropriate CSCS Card
  • Abrasive wheels and Manual handling training
