What you'll be doing?

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual, with construction claims experience, to provide claim support and join a well-established Building Safety Unit to progress the portfolio of developments requiring remediation and associated financial recovery.   

Reporting to the BSU Head of Claims/Commercial Director, the Claim Surveyor will be expected to:

Identification and findings.

  • The collation of information in conjunction with the Barratt BSU and Divisional Technical teams.
  • Preparation of claim briefing notes and reports, in conjunction with in-house and external legal consultants.
  • Preparation and issue of notices and external letters to senior leaders of recovery targets.
  • Preparation of claim briefings/strategies reports.
  • Liaison with BSU and divisional technical and commercial teams to prepare and collate quantum claims.
  • Feed into the negotiation and dispute resolution with responsible entities.
  • Production of settlement agreements in conjunction with in-house and external legal consultants.
  • Monitoring progress and providing regular updates to BSU Head of Claims and BSU Senior Leaders.
  • Attend all project and team meetings as required, and present adhoc updates concerning recoveries.
  • Complete any other duties as reasonably required by the BSU Head of Claims or Commercial Director.
  • Promote and act in accordance with Group values, systems, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Group IT systems.

To be successful in this role we are looking for:

  •  MRICS / FRICS accredited. 
  • LLM / CIARB desirable.
  • Qualified to HND level or higher with a valid CSCS card desirable.
  • Quantum claim recovery experience.
  • Understanding of the Building Regulations.
  • Ability to interpret the law and build recovery arguments. 
  • Excellent ability to work within a team including all disciplines. (technical, commercial, legal).
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills with an ability to interact at all levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to work at pace to execute business objectives.
  • Experience in the preparation of financial claims.
  • Excellent attention to detail, able to gather, interpret and present data to facilitate preparation of triage packs, letters.
  • Methodical, conscientious and organised, works to deliver high standards.
  • Strong IT skills, working knowledge of computer systems within a business environment.
  • Articulate, clear and credible, and able to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to contribute towards the resolution of disputes and problems.
  • Able to work on own initiative, with the drive to take ownership of projects.
  • Team player, and supportive of colleagues.
