What you'll be doing?

Supporting the business and our divisional offices, our Head Office functions cover all departments from our Executive Board through to our support functions such as Group Design and Technical, HR, Health and Safety, IT, Sales and Marketing, Commercial, Procurement, Group Finance, Corporate Affairs, as well as Legal and Company Secretariat. We also have a specialised function – Barratt Partnerships.

While the work varies from team to team, our key requirements don’t: you must be well organised, extremely helpful and resourceful, and able to use your initiative. You’ll understand that what you do is important, and impacts on your team, the department, and the wider business.

We are offering a fantastic opportunity for someone to join the Group Finance team on a fixed term basis. Reporting to the Group Investor Relations Director, you will be working on all aspects of Investor Relations for the Group.

You will be expected to:

  • Provide input and support on all aspects of the Group’s IR programme.
  • Shareholder register monitoring with monthly data from external providers.
  • Co-ordination of investor and analyst meetings, working closely with PA’s to Finance Director and Chief Executive and Group Investor Relations Director.
  • Managing logistics surrounding the trading updates and results announcements, including event managing the analyst half and full year results presentations.
  • Co-ordination of other ad hoc investor events.
  • Acting as a secondary point of contact for sell-side analysts and investors.
  • Monitoring and tracking of consensus expectations.
  • Monitoring and tracking of industry trends.
  • Monitoring and tracking of competitors’ performance including watching webcasts and / or listening to competitor trading updates and results meetings, distributing results announcements and press releases to the Executive Management team with some added meeting commentary and analysis.
  • Working with the Group IR Director on materials for trading updates and results announcements (5-6 times p.a.), in particular working closely with the Group Finance Department.
  • Building strong relationships across the Group and sourcing information for Group presentation materials and the Group Annual Report.
  • Assisting with the preparation of the interim and annual financial statements, the Annual Report and associated Powerpoint presentations.
  • Maintaining and developing the IR section of the corporate website, including potential project work in relation to migration to a new website.
  • Being the key IR contact for the Group when Group IR Director is not available.

To be successful in the role, we are looking for:

  • Strong accounting and financial background essential, along with good financial analysis skills.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to generate and, through development, critically appraise and present data for both internal stakeholders and for use in presentation materials.
  • Excellent attention to detail as well as being able to keep a focus on the bigger picture and delivering the required result.
  • A team player but someone who will also be comfortable to step up when confident in doing so.
  • Has drive to develop and be prepared to challenge and enquire to enhance their understanding.
  • Hard working, flexible with an ability to juggle and prioritise a number of high-profile initiatives at one time.
  • Ability to work under pressure and with flexibility around key market communication events – notably interim and final results in January/ early February and August / early September respectively.
  • Ability to build strong and trusting relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office including Powerpoint, Word and Excel essential.
