What you'll be doing?

Supporting the business and our divisional offices, our Head Office functions cover all departments from our Executive Board through to our support functions such as Group Design and Technical, HR, Health and Safety, IT, Sales and Marketing, Commercial, Procurement, Group Finance, Corporate Affairs, as well as Legal and Company Secretariat. We also have a specialised function – Barratt Partnerships. 

 

Reporting to the Head of Talent, Performance and Development you will be accountable for leading the strategic leadership development agenda across Barratt Redrow, including hi-potential talent programmes, graduate/early careers initiatives and management development. 

 

You will be expected to:

  •  Lead the Leadership development strategy for Barratt Redrow
  • Have a deep understanding of the current and future capability implications of our strategy for leaders across Barratt Redrow, to inform an appropriate leadership development plan
  •  Understand all parts of the business, their priorities, and collaborate to ensure that we design and deliver the right solutions and campaigns
  •  Review and redefine our leadership and management development offer as required to ensure it is optimised to deliver business strategy
  •  Define and embed leadership expectations for all leaders across Barratt Redrow Group
  • Define and embed baseline expectations for all people managers within Barratt Redrow
  •  Define and deliver a senior leadership induction initiative that immerses all leaders into Barratt Redrow and what is expected of our senior leaders
  • Team is accountable for corporate induction design and delivery
  •  Ensure all our leadership development is delivering a return for the business through robust evaluation, leveraging great data and insight to continuously improve interventions and to demonstrate ROI
  •  Ensure our values are brought to life through the learning solutions that are designed
  •  Work closely with the Talent and Performance team to provide development solutions for high potential talent and performance management capability
  • Undertake training needs analysis to define learning outcomes
  • Work alongside the Learning Solutions team to define and design resources (including 3rd party partners)
  •  Ensure that the selection/assessment processes for programmes are fair and equitable and that we are ensuring good representation of underrepresented groups in cohorts by working in partnership with Recruitment
  •  Identify and manage external providers as needed to ensure they design and deliver appropriate solutions for our business, within budget
  • Have an excellent external network that you regularly utilise for external benchmarking, and to find out what is happening in other organisations in terms of leadership development to ensure we are maximising the impact of our investment
  •  Manage and facilitate the coaching agenda for the business ensuring we are developing both internal capability as well as a PSL of external providers for senior leaders
  •  Strive to continuously improve our offerExplore new ways to learn that are innovative and inspiring  

To be successful in the role, we are looking for: 

 Essential
  •  Deep specialist expertise in leadership development programmes and a thought leader within Barratt Redrow
  •  Experience of, and desire to be hands-on in designing, implementing and evaluating learning strategies in leadership development
  •  Practical experience of designing, delivering and evaluating a leadership development framework
  •  Ability to work at a strategic level is key, combined with a pragmatic approach based in your own personal experience of management
  •  Ability to think long-term and act proactively to deliver long-term, sustainable learning outcomes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement 
  •  A high level of knowledge of leadership and management principles, both current and future
  • Commercially astute with good data analytical skills 
  • Excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills at all levels, with ability to influence senior stakeholders and gain commitment to strategic change/ new ways of working 
  •  Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills
Desirable 
  •  Strong understanding of the macro environment that defines our decisions – this includes the HR/L&D landscape, the house building environment and the macro-economic climate
  •  As well as own direct contribution, be adept at leading others’ contribution and managing third party support as necessary
  •  Strong delivery and facilitation skills
  •  Strong understanding of theoretical knowledge around learning principles such as 70:20:10 and inter-personal skills such as EI & coaching
  •  Being proactive and curious, always challenging to make improvements
  •  Considered, balanced decision-making
  •  Comfortable working in an environment of rapid change and ambiguity; an advocate for change
  •  Demonstrates accountability for their own development
