Are you ready to launch your career in the dynamic house-building industry? We’re excited to announce a unique opportunity in collaboration with Sheffield Hallam University, offering a bespoke Higher & Degree Apprenticeship designed for individuals from all backgrounds.
In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience from day one as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to help lead projects. You’ll attend four 1-week teaching blocks each year with Sheffield Hallam University, combining classroom and online learning, all while having your accommodation, meals and travel costs covered during university stays.
Over approximately 5 ½ years, you will earn a Cert HE and BSc (Hons) Degree in Professional Practice in Residential Development and Quantity Surveying, recognised across the industry.
Your responsibilities will include controlling costs and driving best value for all aspects of our projects. You’ll be involved from the beginning, controlling and reporting on cost, then throughout the development process setting site budgets and targets, monitoring costs and negotiating contracts with suppliers so we can keep buying land and building quality homes in a cost-effective and sustainable way.

You will be expected to:
- Follow the Higher and Degree Apprenticeship programme, including attendance at 4 x 1-week annual block teaching with Sheffield Hallam University for academic study
- Continue to develop through reviews with your coach and mentor
- Assist the Quantity Surveyor in managing subcontractors, materials and goods
- Assist in the accurate costing and cost control for each aspect of site development
- Assist with the compilation of all departmental reports and attend meetings as required
- Provide administrative support for the team whilst maintaining relevant filing and database systems
