Supporting the business and our divisional offices, our Head Office functions cover all departments from our Executive Board through to our support functions such as Group Design and Technical, HR, Health and Safety, IT, Sales and Marketing, Commercial, Procurement, Group Finance, Corporate Affairs, as well as Legal and Company Secretariat. We also have a specialised function – Barratt Partnerships.

The Direct Tax Manager is an existing role in the Group Tax Team of this FTSE 100 business, and will primarily drive the corporate, RPDT and income tax compliance process, the reporting of tax figures to be included in the half- and full-year financial statements, together with ad-hoc projects as they arise. Providing successful business partnering and training to ensure ongoing tax compliance, there is scope to be involved with indirect and employment tax issues.
You will be expected to:
Corporate income tax
•
Pro-actively manage outsource providers in their preparation of corporation tax and partnership income tax returns. Ensuring claims for loss relief and capital allowances are maximised and filing deadlines are met.

Prepare RPDT calculations for inclusion in direct tax returns.
•
Review and oversight of the corporation interest restriction return.
•
Calculate transfer pricing adjustments for inclusion in tax returns.
•
Forecast the Group’s direct tax labilities including CT/RPDT split and allocations under the Group Payments Arrangement.
•
Work with external consultants to pro-actively manage R&D and land remediation relief claims.
•
Ensure compliance with Group’s transfer pricing policies, including calculation of annual management charge.
Financial reporting
•
Prepare current, RPDT and deferred tax provisions for half-year and full-year statutory financial statements, including all disclosures.
•
Leading the external audit relationship and dealing with any audit queries.
•
Calculate cash tax forecasts.
Advisory and business partnering
•
Partner with colleagues across trading divisions and central functions to support business decisions, including JVs, land acquisitions, bulk sales and other significant transactions.

Support on M&A transactions and business integration activities as required.
•
Deal with tax authority queries and correspondence as required.
•
Research and respond to ad-hoc tax queries from the business.
•
Preparation and delivery of tax training to business units.
•
Manage and support key relationships with advisors and tax authorities.
•
Advise on the impact of changes in tax legislation, ensure compliance and that the impact is correctly reflected in tax forecasts.

Compliance with SAO and CCO obligations.
•
Support review of tax risks, controls, policies and procedures. Maintain compliance with tax governance requirements for direct tax.
