What you'll be doing?
Supporting the business and our divisional offices, our Head Office functions cover all departments from our Executive Board through to our support functions such as Group Design and Technical, HR,Health and Safety, IT, Sales and Marketing, Commercial, Procurement, Group Finance, Corporate Affairs, as well as Legal and Company Secretariat. We also have a specialised function – Barratt Partnerships.
While the work varies from team to team, our key requirements don’t: you must be well organised, extremely helpful and resourceful, and able to use your initiative. You’ll understand that what you do is important, and impacts on your team, the department, and the wider business.

Reporting to the Head of Business Change, the role will be required to Programme Manage the delivery of complex and high value Programmes and Projects across the Group. The role is accountable for end to end to delivery of Programmes including all business readiness, training, adoption and change activities.  The majority of programmes will also have IT deliverables within the scope which will need to be managed these will typically be delivered by a combination of internal Group IT and external providers.  

You will be managing the day to day activities of multiple work streams and projects simultaneously to ensure these are delivered to schedule, cost and quality that enable benefit fulfilment and meet sponsor/stakeholder requirements.

The role will also ensure the appropriate best practice methods are applied plus in addition will be required to mentor and develop resources across the group to enhance their Programme/Project Delivery capabilities to enable successful delivery of future change.

You will be expected to:
  • Ensure all Programmes and Projects are managed and deliver to plan for time, cost, quality and benefits
  • Build, develop and motivate high performing programme teams committed to achieving success by delivering the benefits of the programme
  • Ensure all Programmes have appropriate governance in place and is adhered to including reporting cycles to align with regular Executive Steering providing accurate, informative and timely status updates
  • Responsible for end to end delivery of the programme including business readiness, IT, training, adoption and change.
  • Ensure compliance with the agreed change methodology, framework and tools.
  • Work with members of Group IT senior management and external providers to ensure delivery or relevant IT work streams
  •  Create, own, maintain and report on all programme and project plans
  • Support the Head of Business Change and the PMO to develop project and change management methodologies across the Building Excellence programme.
  • Ensure all stakeholders are aware of their role, responsibilities and to ensure they are aware of their deliverables
  • Manage and lead project updates to key stakeholders
  • Provide support for all stakeholders to ensure that requirements and concerns are appropriately managed
  • Responsible for effective communication within and across programmes to all affected stakeholders
  • Manage any dependencies so that the objectives of the programme are achieved in the most effective and efficient manner
  • Effectively manage the plan and control activities, set priorities and allocate resources
  • Build and maintain RAID logs (Risk, assumptions, Issues and Dependencies) prioritising and building mitigation plan to minimise impact  
  • Ensure the project stays aligned to original scope and objectives escalating significant scope changes to appropriate Steering Group
  • Challenge and support the work streams and projects to ensure effective quality assurance and the overall integrity of the programme.
  • Facilitate the appointment of individual resources to project teams, manage resource constraints and conduct training as required to ensure project teams are equipped with the necessary skills.
  • Initiate additional activities, utilise escalation paths or initiate other management interventions where gaps are identified or issues arise as appropriate.
  • Provide coaching, Mentoring and training around business change approach and methodology to project team members
What you'll need?
To be successful in the role, we are looking for:
  • The successful candidate is likely to be currently working or have significant experience in a Programme or Project Management role, within a large multi site organisation responsible for complex Programmes or projects. Experience within Housebuilding would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Degree Level Education and hold relevant change management qualification e.g. Prince2, MSP, APM Project Management Qualification or equivalent
  • Demonstrable stakeholder management and communication skills at all levels and highly skilled at developing relationships.
  • Delivery focused with the ability to prioritise effectively, delegate and achieve results
  • Comfortable in delivering change through facilitation, presentations and practise.
  • Ability to deliver successful projects through the guidance, coaching, mentoring and influencing of others.
  • Able to manage and coach in techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling projects
  • Able to procure and negotiate with third parties.
  • Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures
  • Credible and persuasive to advise and direct project teams on their projects
  • Team player with the ability to lead and be part of a wider team
  • Resilient, enthusiastic and confident self-starter
