What you'll be doing?

Within the Construction environment, think about buying materials, managing big projects, ensuring health and safety and customer service. At any given time, you’ll find us working on some circa 400 developments in both towns and rural areas across the UK, and every one poses unique challenges. Some are from scratch on brownfield sites; others see us adapting existing buildings, like old factories or disused hospitals.

Reporting to the Construction Manager or Construction Director, to support them in fulfilling his/her responsibilities, contributing to the overall success of the business through the provision of efficient and effective administrative support. 

You will be expected to:

  • Work closely with the Construction Director/Construction Manager to ensure that relevant administrative tasks are dealt with efficiently
  • Perform general departmental administration tasks as and when required to meet the needs of the department
  • Manage and maintain relevant filing systems and databases
  • Liaise with internal and external customers/contacts to ensure a smooth flow of information and work between the department, Head Office and other internal/external departments and contacts
  • Monitor costs incurred by the department
  • Ensure effective and efficient processing of documents through Company systems, working within set time frames
  • Provide other appropriate ad hoc duties, and administrative support within the Division, as and when required

What you'll need?
In addition to the above, the successful candidate will also be responsible for:
  • Compiling timesheets – Calculating contracted hours and any overtime for weekly paid staff
  • Arranging training – Organising any SHE & non-SHE required training, booking dates and arranging catering as required. Storing certificates and updating company Matrix system.  Chasing any outstanding certificates and reporting to SHE Manager on a monthly basis.
  • Compiling reports for the Construction Director & Managing Director – Making sure quality assurance checks have been completed and are on time
  • Processing holiday and sickness – booking and co-ordinating holiday dates, maintaining holiday tracker and reporting sickness and other absences to HR Co-ordinator
  • Customer updates – Making customer courtesy calls on any ‘In survey customers’ and reporting finding back to site teams Contracts Manager, Construction Director, Sales Manager and Managing Director


To be successful in the role, we are looking for:

  • Experience of working in an administration/secretarial role                                               
  • Intermediate to advanced level of proficiency with MS Office programs and a good standard of written English
  • Ability to generate professional correspondence unaided
  • Self–disciplined, with demonstrably good time management skills and the ability to manage a number of priorities
  • Ability to multi-task, and work efficiently and accurately under pressure
  • Team players who are supportive of colleagues
  • Professional and pleasant manner in dealing with internal and external customers
  • Excellent telephone skills
