JOB PURPOSE

  • To manage all manufacturing, pre kit, and logistics areas with limited supervision.
  • To assist with streamlining our production facility in Derby to ensure all manufacturing outputs are delivered efficiently.
  • To assign materials, equipment and human resources to production and oversee the quality control and costs within the designated department.
  • To review production schedules for the Derby and be the primary liaison with the shifts (morning/afternoon).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reporting directly to the Production Manager.
  • Appoint labour to ensure the smooth running of the production department.
  • Oversee Quality control throughout the assigned production process.
  • Ensure production is completed before deadlines.
  • Monitor the efficiency of production equipment.
  • Help select equipment and take responsibility for ensuring timely maintenance.
  • Organise the repair of any damaged equipment.
  • Update the Operations Director on the status of workload and projects?
  • Liaise and coordinate Assistant Supervisors on production with other departments.
  • Resolve day to daylabour disputes where requested.
  • Decide on and order the required resources and ensure adequate stock levels.
  • Monitor the production processes and adjust schedules with the production managers' schedules as needed.
  • Monitor productivity rates and product standards and implement quality control programmes.
  • Liaise with different departments, teams, and companies, e.g., suppliers, managers, clients?
  • Ensure that health and safety guidelines and SSOW are always adhered to.
  • Ensure ISO and Chain of Custody processes and procedures are adhered to, and documentation is accurately maintained.
  • Work with managers to implement the Company's policies and strategic goals.
  • Supervise and motivate colleagues to achieve/overachieve performance goals.
  • In conjunction with Production Manager review worker performance and identify training needs. Update Skills Matrix for a shift as/when required to ensure continued development and promote multi-skilling across production processes.
  • To succeed in this role, the successful candidate should demonstrate exceptional planning abilities, which would translate to high production rates and be able to act decisively when solving production-related issues.

 

What you'll need?

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Previous experience in supervising/managing in a manufacturing industry.
  • Ability to use ERP systems, reporting and analysis of data.
  •  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to supervise production teams confidently and proactively.
  • Exceptional ability to solve production-related concerns.
  • All round knowledge of materials, equipment and labour is required throughout the production process.
  • Competence with computer-based administration and record keeping.
  • Ability to work independently under the Production Manager and as a key part of the production team.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills when liaising with another department.
  • Availability to work extended hours to meet deadlines, as/when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing supervisory or management-type role.
  • IOSH Working safely accredited.
  • Have or working towards, IOSH Managing Safety certification.
  • Man-management qualification.
  • Good understanding of LEAN manufacturing processes.

HOURS OF WORK:

Minimum 37.5 hours per week

  • 6.30-16.30 Monday – Wednesday
  • 6.30-16.00 Thursday
  • Flexibility on Friday, if your areas are in the Supervisor needs to be in or rotation with another shift Supervisor
  • Weekend working also required to ensure manufacturing output is effectively managed and achieved.
