What you'll be doing?
Supporting the business and our divisional offices, our Head Office functions cover all departments from our Executive Board through to our support functions such as Group Design and Technical, HR, Health and Safety, IT, Sales and Marketing, Commercial, Procurement, Group Finance, Corporate Affairs, as well as Legal and Company Secretariat. We also have a specialised function – Barratt Partnerships.
While the work varies from team to team, our key requirements don’t: you must be well organised, extremely helpful and resourceful, and able to use your initiative. You’ll understand that what you do is important, and impacts on your team, the department, and the wider business.
Reporting to the Group Head of Biodiversity, you will provide expert guidance and lead Divisions to ensure the Company not only meets Gvt Ministers expectations in respect of trees, landscape, ponds and environment being considered to be a critical part of good design (promoting an ecologically led landscape design) but also satisfies our Strategic land portfolio, being substantially green field, therefore landscape design is of paramount importance.   To review existing best practice and look to create new working processes that ensure our Placemaking and biodiversity principles are upheld whilst maintaining commercial viability.
You will:
  • Liaise with Group functions to provide advice and expertise on Landscape / Ecology and Biodiversity Net Gain
  • Work aligned to and in support of the Urban Design team
  • An understanding of Natural Capital Assessments
  • Lead Divisions on Landscape and Ecology proposals
  • Create a process of Divisional Landscape audits to ensure the designers vision is realised along with the correct specification of planting
  • Work alongside the Group Biodiversity Coordinator
  • Liaise and maintain working relationship with our partners at the RSPB
  • Design and Maintain the Group Landscaping Design Guide as well as creating new best practice document
  • Create Best Practice documents that seek to improve the visual amenity of our developments
  • Present to a variety of forums both within the Group and to external stakeholders on best practice initiatives, Ecology and Biodiversity Net Gain.
What you'll need?
To be successful in the role, we are looking for:
  • A Chartered Landscape Architect with a minimum of 10 years post Part 4 experience in practice ie has completed a degree and post-graduate diploma in Landscape Architecture and qualified as a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI) which is equivalent of RIBA or MRTPI)
  • The ability to produce reports and presentations
  • Be able to work to a specific brief within tight deadlines
  • Have strong presentation skills
  • Have excellent team working skills and be a good communicator
  • Be willing to learn new skills and techniques
  • Experience within private practice or a developer would be an advantage
