What you'll be doing?
Supporting the business and our divisional offices, our Head Office functions cover all departments from our Executive Board through to our support functions such as Group Design and Technical, HR, Health and Safety, IT, Sales and Marketing, Commercial, Procurement, Group Finance, Corporate Affairs, as well as Legal and Company Secretariat. We also have a specialised function – Barratt Partnerships.
 
While the work varies from team to team, our key requirements don’t: you must be well organised, extremely helpful and resourceful, and able to use your initiative. You’ll understand that what you do is important, and impacts on your team, the department, and the wider business.
 
Reporting to the Internal Audit Manager you will carry out divisional internal audits in order to provide independent assurance over the existence of effective and efficient internal controls.  
 
You will be expected to:
  • Input into the planning of divisional audits
  • Delivery of fieldwork for divisional audits
  • Draft findings and initial draft audit reports including agreeing draft findings and recommended management actions with divisional management
  • Carry out fieldwork and assist with planning and reporting for group and central functions audits where required
  • Support in investigations where required
What you'll need?
To be successful in the role, we are looking for:
  • ACA/ACCA/CIA qualified accountant
  • Big 4 experience preferable
  • > 3 years minimum external/internal audit experience
  • Experience in a large multi-site corporate business preferable
  • Prior external or internal audit experience of auditing the following areas:
    • Finance
    • Payroll
    • Human Resources
    • Sales and Marketing
  • Strong business acumen, a curiosity to question and challenge the status quo
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excels at stakeholder management skills and adept at building open, honest and robust with confidence to discuss issues with management in a positive and supportive manner
  • Self-starter, personal accountability, proven ability of working independently to deliver
  • Strong time management skills to manage portfolio of audit assignments deliver audit assignments on time
