What you'll be doing?
Supporting the business and our divisional offices, our Head Office functions cover all departments from our Executive Board through to our support functions such as Group Design and Technical, HR, Health and Safety, IT, Sales and Marketing, Commercial, Procurement, Group Finance, Corporate Affairs, as well as Legal and Company Secretariat. We also have a specialised function – Barratt Partnerships.
While the work varies from team to team, our key requirements don’t: you must be well organised, extremely helpful and resourceful, and able to use your initiative. You’ll understand that what you do is important, and impacts on your team, the department, and the wider business.

The Head of Central Finance is a leadership position within the Group Finance team. The role will provide support to the Group Financial Controller, including leading the Central Finance function and being the business product owner for P2P. The Central Finance team’s responsibilities include the Central cost centres, the Group Help to Buy (HTB) function and the Group Accounts Administration function.

You will:

Provide support to the Group Financial Controller:

Be the product owner for P2P with a project leadership role in Group wide P2P transformation, developing the Central and Divisional teams to be SMEs in end to end P2P, ensure harmonization of processes, and to promote best practice & continuous improvement throughout the Group.
Lead on other finance improvement projects

Lead the Central Finance team:

Enhance the Central Finance function, its business partnering and management information provision
Support the Central Finance Manager in the day to day running of their team as required 
Provide appropriate oversight & control of key account balances, such as IFRS2 Share-based payments accruals
Review and approve the PLC entity ledgers and accounts
Work with the Group Risk & Controls Manager to improve Central processes and controls

Lead the Group HTB function:

Support the HTB Project Co-ordinators in the day to day running of their team as required 
Provide appropriate support and challenge to the business, to ensure HTB processes are followed, and monies are collected from HTB agencies in good time

Lead the Group Accounts Administration team:

Support the Group Accounts Administration Supervisor on the day to day running of their team (whom are responsible for the masterfile data off all Group Suppliers & Sub-contractors).
Own & develop the business prompt payment processes and reporting, this will include regular interaction with colleagues at all levels of the business.
What you'll need?

To be successful in the role, we are looking for:

Highly driven with a broad skill set, and a proven track record
Ability to operate & influence stakeholders at all levels (e.g. MD /FD / Heads of function, Executive).
Strong planning and project management experience.
Knowledge of housebuilding, finance, relevant legislation and an awareness of changes within the market.
Ideally prior experience of working in a Group Support/ Shared service centre


In addition the candidate will have:

ACA/CIMA/ACCA with at least five years post qualification experience
Strong commercial acumen
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to demonstrate strategic and innovative thinking from concept through to execution
Displays honest and consistent behaviour to all levels and respects confidences.
Team Player
Agile, and able to work to tight and often competing deadlines.
