What you'll be doing?
Supporting the business and our divisional offices, our Head Office functions cover all departments from our Executive Board through to our support functions such as Group Design and Technical, HR,Health and Safety, IT, Sales and Marketing, Commercial, Procurement, Group Finance, Corporate Affairs, as well as Legal and Company Secretariat. We also have a specialised function – Barratt Partnerships.
While the work varies from team to team, our key requirements don’t: you must be well organised, extremely helpful and resourceful, and able to use your initiative. You’ll understand that what you do is important, and impacts on your team, the department, and the wider business.

The Corporate Sustainability team promote the sustainability of our business by providing insight and connecting teams so we that can drive those environmental and social aims that make will a difference at the national level and to future generations.

We scan the horizon internally and externally, utilising world class expertise to provide the right solutions, with the aim of bringing teams together and driving the delivery of priorities. Collaboration and cooperation is central to how we work.

Reporting to the Head of Sustainability Delivery you will support the delivery of our Sustainability Project Framework by assessing, developing, implementing, monitoring and measuring a programme of initiatives. In order to deliver on this remit, you will be proactive in engaging with internal stakeholders in all function groups and divisions, as well as external providers and technical experts.

You will be expected to:

  • Autonomously coordinate sustainability projects and initiatives by working with Divisional teams and Group functions, ensuring the outcomes are aligned with our commitments and are feasible operationally. Be proactive in pursuing sustainability initiatives by continually driving engagement with various teams through collaboration.
  • End to end project management and co-ordination of data by developing appropriate project plans, producing feasibility and technical analyses of technologies and initiatives, and supporting the development of financial business cases and operational implementation plans.
  • Support the completion of projects at various operational stages through accurate and timely co-ordination, contributing to implementation as required. This will also involve the preparation and issue of information that will help inform business decisions.
  • Develop KPIs, performance management reports and technical analyses in line with the sustainability strategy and framework, collaborating and supporting Group and Divisional functions in monitoring and measuring the impact of various initiatives. Proactively develop tools and data assessments to allow the business to drive the performance of each sustainability KPI.
  • Develop the processes that will secure ongoing performance of the framework and support the embedding of these in core operational activities.
  • Support the ongoing work to automate reporting by providing data and preparing reports.
  • Share knowledge and expertise with the team and the rest of the business through meetings, presentations, webinars and seminars. Produce training materials that will help colleagues to embed new processes and ways of working.
  • Work with external teams to develop inputs to projects, and develop and deliver the project plan to embed this within the business.
  • Support the Head of Sustainability Delivery by providing research, analysis and insights, as well as co-ordination of the framework as required.
What you'll need?

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Educational / professional background in engineering / finance / sciences desirable.
  • Be an organised and effective project manager.
  • Have the ability to work proactively and autonomously.
  • Be an excellent communicator, able to work with all levels of the organisation including senior stakeholders.
  • Be able to build strong relationships with stakeholders so as to develop an effective network of advocates for the sustainability programme.
  • Be a collaborative worker, open minded and able to listen to other points of view.
  • Identify risks and opportunities and contribute effectively to the sustainability aims of the organisation.
  • Demonstrate professional curiosity and be able to think creatively, questioning conventional practices and ways of working.
  • Demonstrate a deep interest in scanning the external horizon for best practice and be able present this to back to the business effectively.
  • Be passionate about creating a sustainable future for the business, understanding the impact this role will have on the UK sustainability agenda and therefore the global sustainable development goals.
  • Be numerate with strong analytical skills, and able to produce high quality reports and materials autonomously
